How do I receive information on the programming and events of HCT?

There are several ways to find out more about what's happening at HCT! The best way to receive updates is to have yourself added to our e-newsletter. To be added to our standard postal mailing list, please send an e-mail to Office@HartfordChildrensTheatre.org. Also, you are always welcome to call HCT at 860.249.7970, our Office Manager will be your first contact at HCT. Our staff is always happy to answer questions!

How do I find out about classes & workshops?

If you have specific questions that are not addressed here, about age recommendations for particular productions, or about the best placement for a child who is interested in taking one of our drama classes, contact our Education Director at extension 860.249.7970 x10.

Does HCT accept volunteers?

Volunteers are one of our most valuable assets. HCT has a committee called “Friends of Hartford Children’s Theatre” who coordinate volunteer activities. If you and/or your civic organization would be interested in volunteering time, we would be happy to discuss our projects and ways in which we can match your interest in the dramatic arts with our needs. Where does HCT hold its classes?

  • DRAMA SCHOOL  classes are held at our beautiful Victorian house and Carriage House Theatre. Our campus is located at 360 Farmington Avenue in Hartford, CT (across the street from the Mark Twain House). For directions, click here.
  • SUMMER YOUTHEATRE classes are held at the brand-new Classical Magnet School in Hartford. For directions, please click here.
  • VACATION PROGRAM classes are held at our beautiful Victorian house and Carriage House Theatre. Our campus is located at 360 Farmington Avenue in Hartford, CT (across from the Mark Twain House). For directions, click here.

Is HCT handicap accessible?

Yes, both our main office/classrooms and our Carriage House Theatre are handicap accessible. If you have specific concerns, please call 860.249.7970 and we will make sure that your visit is safe and comfortable!

After a class is finished do the children perform something?

All HCT technique classes culminate in a program called “Share Day.” This provides all of our talented students the opportunity to demonstrate what they have learned in class. Family and friends are encouraged to pack the Carriage House Theatre! 

Where does HCT hold its Drama School Productions, Share Days, Summer Youtheatre productions and Family Main Stage series?

  • DRAMA SCHOOL and SHARE DAY performances are usually held in our Carriage House Theatre (located behind the main offices and classes). The Carriage House Theatre is a state-of-the art theatre that was renovated by HCT for the specific purpose of hosting our talented young artists.   • SUMMER YOUTHEATRE performances are usually held at the Classical Magnet School in Hartford. For directions, please click here.
  • FAMILY MAIN STAGE SERIES performances are usually held at the Hoffman Auditorium on the Saint Joseph's College campus. For directions, please click here. It's important to confirm the location of the show. Please click here to see production details.

What happens if I want to cancel the class?

Once the session has started, our classes are nonrefundable. If the student would like to withdraw from classes, we will issue an appropriate class credit.

In addition, when Registering for Summer Youtheatre, a $100.00 non refundable deposit is necessary. This deposit is applied to the program fees, but will not be refunded if you withdraw registration at any time. HCT reserves the right to cancel a class if enrollment is insufficient. Any tuition paid will be refunded in full. If you have any questions please call 860.249.7970 x 12 before submitting payment.

What happens if there is bad weather?

HCT Drama School classes will be cancelled on days that Hartford Public Schools are closed (due to inclement weather conditions).

When is our box office open?

Tuesday – Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

How much are tickets?

What kinds of opportunities do you offer Directors, Designers and Technicians and Teachers?

We are always looking for creative, talented, and dependable artists! Currently, we have opportunities in our Drama School and through our Main Stage productions. HCT hires artists who are skilled as teachers and directors for our Drama School and Drama School productions. Send your resume and cover letter to our Education Director or call 249.7970 x 10. HCT hires Directors, Designers and Technicians for our Family Main Stage Series.  Send your cover letter and resume to HCT’s Artistic Production Manager or call 249.7970 x13.
