DRAMA SCHOOL

The Drama School is divided into 3 companies based on the grade level of the student

The Discovery Company program (Ages Pre-K-3) is a delightful introduction to the world of creative drama. New readers and budding performers think imaginatively and work cooperatively while learning the basics of acting. For Class Details please Click Here.

The Youth Company program (Grades 4-7) addresses the needs of both beginning and experienced performers. Students learn to work as an ensemble, think on their feet as performers, and develop confidence in performing for an audience. For Class Details please Click Here.

The Teen Company program (Grades 8-12) challenges and inspires the adolescent performer. Teens come to HCT with a range of interests and levels of experience, so the focus is on taking the next step in building their craft as performers and developing their own work. For Class Details please Click Here.

SUMMER YOUTHEATRE

Summer Youtheatre is HCT's summer camp, held at 85 Woodland St., Greater Hartford Classical Magnet School! 4 week sessions for youth and teen companies (grades 4 - 12), and 2 week sessions for Discovery company (grades K - 3) provide the perfect exposure to both performing and technical arts! Whether your child loves singing, acting or working behind the scenes, HCT has the program for you! In the DISCOVERY COMPANY students get their first glimpse of theatre through participation in an array of playful and creative activities. Along with a daily Story Theatre class, students will be able to choose from a number of Theatre electives to broaden their experience. Each session culminates in a "Share Night" performance. The YOUTH and TEEN COMPANY students are all cast in a production. Students can choose between the musical production and the dramatic production. Daily acting classes are supplemented with elective classes. These classes allow students to customize their summer experience! Program-wide field trips are taken once a week, giving students the chance to develop new friendships and take a break from their artistic work. To see our 2010 brochure, please click here.
