Hartford Children's Theatre offers a wide range of educational enrichment opportunities for students throughout the region.  Our Family Main Stage Series provides exciting and rewarding field trip opportunities both on-site and off while our Education Department’s Dramatic Arts Outreach Program creates custom classes and workshops for your students at your facility.

STUDENT MATINEE FIELD TRIPS
Hartford Children's Theatre is pleased to offer special weekday performances for schools throughout Greater Hartford with subsidized ticket prices. At a time when many schools are cutting back on arts programming, attending an HCT performance is an outstanding opportunity to expose your students to the transformational and educational power of live theatre.HCT provides study guides for all of our productions as a starting point for group discussion and sharing before and after your students enjoy the performance. The study guides include a variety of exercises designed to help your students reflect on their viewing experience and express themselves through creative writing and fun activities. A 15 minute Q&A with thecast and crew follows every Student Matinee and HCT on the Road performances. 

HCT ON THE ROAD
If transportation is an issue, HCT is prepared to travel directly to your school. In addition to HCT's Main Stage Series, we are pleased to announce HCT ON THE ROAD. This exciting new initiative brings the entire production (actors, sets, costumes) right to your school, allowing your students to experience the joy of theatre in their own environment.  HCT ON THE ROAD debuted during our 2010-2011 season and proved to be a big success exposing 3,500+ school children to quality live theatre throughout Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts.  Each HCT ON THE ROAD booking comes with an educational study guide and a 15 minute, post-show Q&A with the cast and crew.

DRAMATIC ARTS OUTREACH PROGRAM
Our Dramatic Arts Outreach Program provides enrichment programming in schools across the state, from elementary through high school. Through our Outreach Program students have the opportunity to learn from professional and educated performing arts teachers! Classes are designed to encourage creative expression and self-discovery in a supportive and non-judgmental environment. Our teaching artists will provide students the opportunity and tools to become confident, well-rounded, and artistic individuals. Hartford Children’s Theatre’s outreach programs set the stage for lifelong learning that extends well beyond the fall of the theatre curtain. We have many class options available and can create a program based on your originations needs.
